Sputnik ‘Wins’ Snowbird #5

Monday, March 19th, 2012

PHRF racing certainly has plenty of room for grumbling about the legitimacy of winners & losers (one of the reasons why you should sail a Moore, one design!), and this past Saturday’s Snowbird Race #5 was certainly no exception. In fact there was even more room for debate than normal, as the second mark was nowhere to be found, leaving the fleet dousing spinnakers, heading upwind, downwind, and finally saying ‘good enough!’

All that aside, Sputnik was in a good place going into the ‘mark’, they hunted around for the ‘mark’ for an acceptable amount of time, and ended up ‘winning’ the ‘race.’

Whether or not the results should count, all I know is that at any given point in the race you would have found Sputnik sailing boat-for-boat with some much larger counterparts. That in itself has to count as a win!

Buy a Moore 24!

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

If you’ve been thinking about snagging a Moore 24 to join the NW fun, now is definitely the time!

A bunch of boats have come out of the woodwork and been put up for sale. They aren’t going to last long, but if you move fast enough you could have one up from California in plenty of time for the start of the 2012 NW racing season!

Hell, we’d probably even consider doing the road trip for you!

Most of the action is on the Moore Sailors Yahoo Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/moore24sailors/
