PNW Fleet Update

Tuesday, September 26th, 2017

We just had our fleet championship Round Bainbridge Island double handed overnight race in some light current riddled conditions where strategic drifting became the way of game.  Congratulations to #47 Moorality for taking first on Saturday and #16 Amorillo for 1st on Sunday – winner of the weekend to be announced shortly.

Moore's in Bremerton

Next up is the Moore 24 Fleet Roadmaster scheduled race, Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle’s Puget Sound Sailing Championships – it blew 30 last year!

  • CYC’s Race Chair came to me a few months back and said hey, I see the Moore’s have our regatta on their Roadmaster schedule, what can we do to make the event fun for the Moore 24’s.  Too which I answered – COOK A PIG!  We’ll they have that organized and will be cooking a pig all night for everyone at the regatta but they are doing it because the Moore 24 fleet put their regatta on the Roadmaster Schedule and they want everyone coming from out of town to have that little bit extra for making the trip
  • You can pre purchase tickets for $10 on the registration page (on site is first come first serve and dinner tickets are $15)
  • Here are some highlights CYC has for the weekend:
    • CYC Seattle is having a pig roast (a whole pig at the request of the Moore 24 Fleet) on Saturday (complete with pomp and ceremony that goes with a pig roast)
    • Chalk talk by Ullman Sail and possibly North Sail as well as  Seattle Divers
    • 2 days of fun racing on the Puget sound
    • Free Parking for trailers (for those out of state Moore’s)
    • Pre race stretching class. (tentative based on RSVP’s) and not just your 12oz lifting arm.

Currently we have following Moore’s registered for the race (updated 9/28) and one more boat filling out crew:

  • More Uff Da #26
  • Moorality #47
  • Morphine #72
  • Morjito #111
  • La Luchamoore #131
  • More Cowbell #124
  • Amoore #13

CYC Seattle is going the extra mile because the Moore fleet said they were coming – So please, seriously, make the effort to show up and get registered today!

Our Final race of the Fall currently organized is Round the County – this is a big one, they have an entry limit of 125 boats and there are 8 spots left!  Up until this year #26 More Uff Da had been the only boat to do this race – the only Moore 24 to enter and compete in Round the County.  For 2017 Round the County currently has 6, yes 6 Moore 24’s entered!  Hot Spam & Holy Landjeagers will this be a good time!

Currently entered (registered, paid, ready to race, going to be there boats)
  • Evermoore #109

Moore News!

Sunday, March 22nd, 2015

Things are really ramping up for the sailing season to get underway  -

The Blakely Rock Benefit ( is quickly approaching and word on the street is 4 boats are committed to race!  #26 is entered and #72, #60 and #44 (yes, a new boat in town) are going to enter.  Who else wants to join in?

To kick the season off, Ben and Jennifer are going to host a Fleet Party on Friday, April 3rd – yes, the night before Blakely Rock Benefit!  The Fleet Party will start around 5PM or so and go late I am sure.  We’ve got a turkey and a keg of beer and some appetizers, I believe the newest NW Fleet members, Mikki & Chon are bringing a Salmon for grilling.  It would be great if the rest of you bring side dishes – Thanksgiving dinner type sides or whatever you desire!

Next up will be the Tulip Regatta April 25/26, the Race to the Straits May 3&4 and then the Eugene Reservoir to meet up with some Oregon boats on memorial day weekend.  If you are planning on doing any of these races, or others, speak up early so others can make plans to join you!

But, even though the season is getting started it doesn’t mean that boats haven’t been out sailing!

#72, Morphine, is putting in their time on the boat and have been competing in the Center Sound Series and are currently sitting 5th out of 8 in their class after two races and a super windy Scatchet Head race.

And this past Saturday #26, More Uff Da, and #72, Morphine, finished up the 5 race Snowbird Series with beautiful sunny skies and winds in the 25 to 30 knot range.  Some serious downwind rippin’ runs with Morphine clocking over 15 knots of boatspeed at times.  I think they’re learning the boat just fine… 1st overall on the day to #26 & 2nd overall on the day to #72!

And while these boats have been out sailing Chon (pronounced Sean) Pieruccioni quietly snuck down to southern California and adopted #44!

Come on by the fleet party before the Blakely Rock Benefit and welcome Chon and his wife Mikki to this crazy fleet of old cult boats.
